Hatch skinned. Used 3m VHB tape for some of it. That stuff is the best. I’ll be using more of it.

Got some good work done on the trailer. I glued the external walls on with contact cement. I’m thinking of adding screws too, since it will be covered in aluminum. I went overboard with Marine grade plywood, 1/4 inch. I had to cover all the foam with aluminum tape, since the contact cement eats foam.

Three coats of “the mix” (spar urethane and mineral spirits) and it looks pretty darn good!

You can also see a bit of bondo, to smooth the curve where I had to glue two sheets together.

Thanks everyone.

I got a little more done today. I added screws to the side panels since I am not very confident in the contact cement I used. I guess better safe than sorry. This whole project has been overkill.

I should explain my wiring. I am using a 7 pin Trailer connector to allow all lights (backup) and 12 volt charging from the vehicle. I also like how durable the plug is.

I found some really cool taillights from JW speaker that have a separate tail, brake, turn, and backup. Since normal trailer wiring only allows a combined brake/turn, I found a cool vehicle to vehicle relay box from Curt (part #C56196). It allows the turn signal to flash separately from the brake light.

I have a 24 series battery in the back hatch. Overkill again. It is on a 30 amp breaker to the car(also fused on car), just in case. For circuits I am using:

Interior light
Gallery light
Stereo/amp, usb charger, and voltage meter
Vent fan
Exterior (porch) light

Each is on a separate fused circuit. I used a 6 circuit Blue Sea fuse block with grounds.

Wiring for everything is run through the walls and roof. I used 18 gauge marine grade wires everywhere. There are no splices or solder anywhere within the walls. I was very concerned about it being sealed up(no access)so I made sure every wire is accessible at both terminations.

Sealed up the bottom.

Two coats of “the mix”. Caulked the edges. Then applied Tite Seal window flashing over the whole thing.

Thanks everyone! I’m hoping to be using it this summer with my son.

I got outside today with my brother. He came over to help me skin the roof. Man that was hard! We glued the edge with marine sealant/adhesive, and left the middle floating.
