Romanian Vardo style standee

Postby prohandyman » Mon Feb 05, 2018 7:39 am

Well I think I remember saying the SlumberCoach was the last camper I would build, but you just can't keep a good man down. I bought a frame back from a guy that I sold a couple of years ago. He never got started with his project and I guess I am bored. Well...except for a herniated disc, for which I'm seeing a surgeon today, so getting sidelined before I get started. But the frame needed some welding and cutting so I at least got that done before surgery. That and the floors cut to size and undercoated, so most of the bending over is done for awhile. It is to be a Vardo style standee, which I always wanted to build.
6 1/2 x 12 ft, 7 ft tall. I've gotten back into wood carving so it will have lots of Gingerbread, old world style door and Windows, a porch and some crazy decorative painting. So...number 33 takes off!
Here’s the one I’m modeling after

Ok surgery is over and went good. Now a little rest and rehab and we will get back on this camper. Visiting a architectural salvage store later this week hopefully to look at doors, windows, etc.

Beautiful door! I am enjoying watching this - we are going to start a second in the near future (selling our old one, to make way for the new!), so I am enjoying this vicariously for a few months -- won't get to ours until we clear out the area.
