Wow, the electrical wizardry that goes into these little tow boxes is something else.. Who knew that in our younger ages we should have all studied electrical engineering?

Great Job, DWT,

I remember here in the forum somewhere, that for backup lights, someone just attached the lights where they wanted them and a switch on the front of their teardrop for those lights. When they arrived at the campsite, they'd step out, flip on the switch for the lights, back in and then turn off the switch. Seems like an easy fix for backing in at a campsite..

Cut out the hole for my MaxxFan
Image

Image

I had a little bit of a gap where the ceiling didn't adhere to the frame. So I through some glue in it and clamped it up
Image

Started on the first layer of the insulation. This is 3/4" insulation so I used my router with a dado bit set at 1/2" to cut out my wire channels.

I'm going to make the wire look better this is just a test fit.

I used a 1/8" notched trow to glue down the insulation. I kept the direction of the glue the same like laying tile so air could escape but still had a problem with the insulation popping up. I decided to screw some board to help keep it down. Possibly doing some kerf cuts would of helped make the insulation go around the curve better instead of clamping it down like I did.

Cut the hole in the bulk head for the galley wiring

A buddy helped with installing the roof. The fittings I was going to use for running the electrical/wires from the teardrop to the tongue box weren't going to work. So we did everything but that area. I will have to piece that last part in tomorrow after running to the store for different fittings.

Lining up the holes for wires that will come from the teardrop to the tongue box
Image

I used Liquidtight Flexible Non-Metallic Conduit and Connectors to run the wires through. To secure them I used a lock nut and washer, As hard as it was to line everything up if I were to do it again it may be easier just to run the wires down through the floor and up the bottom of the tongue box and then water seal everything.

Did a half inch round over on the roof. I put blue tape on the sides before setting the roof on that way could snap a chalk line to staple the spars

Thanks clamlamp! The storage underneath has definitely made the teardrop bigger and it didn't help I put wheels/tires on it to match my TV. My plans were to pull it with a Jeep Wrangler but I feel like it might be a bit much for the Jeep. Maybe short trips would be fine. So I'll probably end up getting a Tacoma to pull it. My thought was the jeep doesn't have much storage so I could add some in the teardrop. Plus hopefully one day I will get to do some long term travel in it and the storage will be nice. Hopefully my plans all work out. I said I only wanted to build one but we'll see lol

Lol you two, "Who's got the tear Bug"? ;)
I'm still working on trying to get ours finished. And have thoughts of what I would do the same or what changes I'd make to another one.
Both your tears are great builds..

Enjoy, David

Thanks soapcreek! I just took a look at your build and it looks like it is coming along nicely. I like how you did your tail lights. I don't think I have seen that look before.
