12 v reading lights please!

Postby oklahomajewel » Sat Jul 15, 2006 10:44 pm

Help! I'm surfing but not finding anything but the make your own, or the $50 and up reading lights.

Can you tell me what you have used? Where you got them?

I have an overhead cabin light but thought it would be best to have some kind of directional reading type light up near the "headboard" actually, the overhead little shelf area , above the pillow/head area.

Thanks!

Julie

I picked this up at the local RV store (Al's RV) for 10.00. I have a double one in my other teardrop and I don't think it was much more:

ssr... or jack.... are those adjustable? or 'directional' ?

I have Camping World and what they have looks dated and way too big.
I will check again at Mobile Mart, they have rv and mobile home supplies but I didn't see anything there before.

I checked ebay, and even west marine, etc... like for chart reading lights.

I bought these from Radio Shack. I can't take credit because I saw them on someone else's trailer. I asked where he got them from.

I like the light from Radio Shack. You can aim the beam any way that is needed. The light is very directional so the reading light doesn't disturb the other person...

WOW ..... I knew you all were the best sources for this!!

I'll run over to my local Radio Shack and see about that one, but then I would have to put a 12v socket there to plug it into.

Or did you just modify it and wire it directly in and not have the socket to plug into?

THANK YOU !!! :applause:

Jewel

Wireing a 12 v DC socket is simple, really.... I would install a couple of them, that way you can use the same light in various places. Woo Hoo!
