Hello from Spokane, Washington!

Postby gammainjector » Thu Oct 18, 2018 5:42 pm

Hi everyone! Recently started on my first TD build, my father built one in the late 70's that we camped in for a good twenty odd years before he gave it to my brother. Decided to build one of my own with his help, updated for 2018. Have lurked in the forums for awhile and the knowledge here is fantastic. My TD will be 5'x8' and design-wise was really inspired by Oregon Trail'r Terradrop. Finally had a weekend I wasn't on-call to work on it, so far completed the plumbing for the propane line and the basic electrical for trailer lights (still looking for a good set of LED's). The next weekend I have available will wrap up the trailer lights and stabilizer jacks and get the floor on. I feel a little lucky as I live pretty close to Fiber-Tech and was able to get a sheet of 5/8" FRP plywood for $40 (they sell their "seconds" at $1/sq.ft.) as that'll be my floor. I'll be able to start adding photo's next time I'm out at the folks' (gotta love a dad who's got a radiant floor heated workshop in the winter).

Glad to see someone else in the area! I built mine last winter got it well enough to get out a few times but this winter has a list of things to continue to refine.

As Chapter Director my region is:
Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana.
But I unofficially cover Northern California.
Also the Director for the B.C.Chapter.
Thus, our current Roster covers all of those areas.
In 2019 our chapter already has sponsored events planned for
Wasington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Northern California!

I too have been a member of T.O.W. for the past 6 years and have worked closely with their events organizers, and am in
constant communication with their Newsletter Editor to make sure we are providing Teardrop Enthusiasts throughout the PNW
with the information they need to make their Teardrop Camping a better experience.
We also have co-sponsored events with T.O.W. in the past, and plan to continue doing so.

Hi everyone! Thanks for the introductions, will be updating my build diary as I've finally had a few weekends free and got the walls and forward exterior skin on. To the locals, if you used aluminum skin, where did you get it from? I found out Pacific Metals has a shop nearby and will be going by there in the next week or two to see whats available.
