I'll have to start looking around. It sounds like I just need to be patient with shipping.

I find it a great help to keep a spreadsheet recording when and what was ordered, their order #, when shipped, tracking number, etc. :D

There is usually a small discount available when ordering from their app instead of the webpage. I often shop on the PC as I can have oodles of tabs open, drop things into the cart and then complete the order using the app.

bdosborn It seem you know how to read spec's What do you see in the spec's for this battery. I can work with 24V so that is not a problem. (I was going to series to 12V) Discharge rate? 2000w inverter? The price($745+free shipping) is defiantly right.

The post look like knurled nuts. Thank you for you knowledge on this.

There a couple of weird things about this one:

7 cells in series? I'd expect 8.
It is LiFePO4? It's only shown as that in one spot, everywhere else says Li-ion.
Recommended charge current is pretty low, it's usually 1/2-1C for quality LiFePO4.
Number of cycles is only 1,000, Its usually twice that for LiFePO4.
It doesn't weigh anymore than a regular 100A, 12V battery, I'd expect twice the weight for 100A at 24V.

Thanks for tips Don. I'm kind of interested in Headway LiFePO4 cells, I'll start looking for them.

The big cylinders with the sr
crew type connectors!!!.... I've wondered about some of those too. There are some even larger ones.... 40152, 60370 , 60280

Sure beats the connector methods used with 18650 / 26650 etc

A123 is a very good maker in that space.

But trustworthy vendors are critical if getting stuff shipped from overseas, warranty doesn't count with return shipping costs.

bdosborn wrote:Has anybody pulled the trigger on LiFePo4 drop-in batteries yet? They're freaky expensive right now but the TCO is around where lead acid batteries are at and you can get a 10 year guarantee on some makes. $300 for two GC batteries, versus one LiFePO4 for $950; the amp-hr capacity is about the same between the two type but about 1/4 the total weight with LiFePO4. I've been looking at them and thinking I might get one in the next year or so. Right now I'm leaning towards Battle Born Batteries.

Install a Lifepo4 Chinese drop-inn battery today. Time will tell if it was a good deal.

Guys , since we had two LIPO battery explosions , I thought I’d post this … ( from the model plane guys , we’ve been using these type of batteries for years now … ) Just FYI …

GPW Were the RC battery's lifepo4 or lithium ion or LIPO ? 3 different kinds of batteries. lifepo4 is by far safer. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XymqQ-YlfJ0

I get a blank page when I open the doc. Just to clarify though, is this is for LiFePo4 batteries? LiPO are different and yes, they blow up. That's why I went with LiFePO4, the battery chemistry is different and they don't blow up.

This is the battery I have.(Lifepo4) So far I like it good power and easy to solar charge. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/BLS-12V ... st=ae803_5

Yes LFP is in no way dangerous, no more than lead anyway.

LiPo - and 99% of the dozens of other lithium chemistries - are, to the point you must not charge (even use really) them inside any living space, least of all a mobile one.

Especially not unattended.

“ Especially not unattended. “
While Not an expert , we’ve been sucessfully using Lithium batteries since the early 2000 s, starting with Li “phone batteries” to dedicated Lipos , to the 18650… only two explosion/fires so far (outside, Lipos ) … And we were using specialized chargers with balancers etc. … :o
Any battery is potentially Dangerous when used improperly , just none as SPECTACULAR as the Li :frightened: !!! JMHO We’ve blown up most every other type of battery in the past , so we speak from experience , not something I read on Facebook …

Just be CAREFUL !!! Stay safe !!! Practice safe battery … ;)

ps. The only reason I mentioned it in the first place was I consider each and every one of YOU as my " Trailer family” and would see you come to No harm …

Here's a good summary of the differences between Li Ion and LiFePO4.

LiFePO4 Safety

Here's some relevant snips:

A common misunderstanding is that all lithium ion batteries are the same. There are different chemistries available that provide various advantages and disadvantages. Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) batteries cannot be made in the small sizes required for most consumer electronics, however when it comes to safety, LiFePO4 technology is by far the safest chemistry available.

2When abuse does occur, the phosphate based cathode material will not burn and is not prone to thermal runaway. Lithium phosphate cells are incombustible in the event of mishandling during charge or discharge, they are more stable under overcharge or short circuit conditions and they can withstand high temperatures without decomposing. 3From the viewpoint of safety performance, a LiFePO4 battery is similar to a lead-acid battery.

Here's a CALB LiFePO4 battery (which I have) after being shot with a nail gun. Kind of anticlimactic actually. I did a of of research before buying these batteries,I don't think they're any riskier than the golf cart battery they replaced (knock on wood).
