Paper Towel Holder

Postby Dee Bee » Mon Jul 17, 2006 9:32 pm

When I used the galley of my TD I found that I often wanted a paper towel. I saw some other TDs with paper towel holders so I built a simple one, too. Then I found that the slightest breeze would unwind the roll! My wife said she wanted a holder that would allow for one-hand operation. You know what she means. No more holding the roll to keep it still with one hand and tearing a sheet off with the other. Here is how I fixed it.

How would you do it?

Cool! 8) You could also do do some sort of a wire or driftwood technique. I like the looks of yours, tho.

This is what we are using. Purchased at Bed, Bath & Beyond a couple years ago. The arm over the towels lifts up. The mfr intended user to feed towels through slot on bar but it works fine this way. :relaxing: Danny

In the past I have used a small arm that is hinged above the roll with a weight. Keeps the stuff from unrolling, adjusts to the roll size and is quick and easy. When on the road I would just wrap a length of velcro around the roll.

DeeBee's holder is cool though!! That is one of those things that you get to make when the camper is "finished" and you need "improvements".

I started with rubber bands and moved up to small bungie cords. It does leave a crease in the towels but campers can deal with that.

You think like a Cabinetmaker. Those hinges are great for drill press jigs etc. Danny
