What type of tape would you recommend?

Just use 3M masking tape. I would use fine line tape on the acrylic because it bends easier, then mask the rest. I really think if you make the grey go away you'll hardly notice it's not factory. Black it out and move on with your life. Lol. Good luck my friend.

Oh hey, can you take an Exacto knife on the inside and trim the excess butyl first? Then on the outside when you mask a line you can run it straighter and not have as much area to cover. Does that make sense?

Let me know if you run into issues. I like your build, by the way. Nice work. Carrie says she loves the wood

Thank you, I may try to do a camping trip or two before covering it with tape just to make sure it is truly dry, I just did a test with a garden hose and spray nozzle.

It was leaking at first but I tightened a couple screws a little more and added more butyl tape at the edge and it stopped the two leaks.

Is the model that everyone is having trouble with this one that's currently posted on the Vintage Technologies site?

WD05
42" x 12" Horizontal Window with 1/2 screen, tinted windows, black aluminum frame

https://www.teardroptrailerparts.com/pricing.html

I was thinking of installing this one, but if it's the same that's caused all of y'all so much grief, then I'm going to have it give it a hard pass..

No. Not it. Keep in mind, that one is for "vertical" use.

It's been done. There have been a list of attempted fixes. These are a faulty product

Well, I have now lost track on how many times and which windows I've done what on. It's crazy that I've had so much trouble on both. As of late, we camped through the weekend with two storms rolling through, with no leaks. I am convinced it has to do with the expansion rates of dissimilar materials, combined with the twisting and flexing associated with expansion and contraction of the coach itself. These windows are not constructed to take the movement. For now, we are dry...

I was literally about to place an order for one of these windows today until reading this. Thanks for the info, everyone! Definitely just going to skip it for now. Maybe they will make a better product in the future and I can install it then

What company were you going to place the order with, if you don't mind me asking

Hi! https://www.teardroptrailerparts.com/ is the website, and I'm still planning to purchase 3 different windows with them. Was hoping to place my order tomorrow. Do you have any advice for or against that?

Thank you!
Nicole
