Cover your whole tear

Postby bledsoe3 » Tue Jul 18, 2006 5:25 am

This should be a perfect E-Z UP for a tear drop. http://tinyurl.com/m98p5
Plenty wide and long enough to cover the tear and hatch.

You guys still have K-Mart? They closed all of ours and didn't leave any in the area. I considered a similar one but found no accessories for it, like walls or screen rooms.

This is the first one I've seen that wasn't square. If it's a new model, maybe the accessories will be coming. For $99 I may go buy one. My last one blew over and broke. I could order parts and fix it for $60 but they keep telling me they're back ordered.

HEY! I saw that in the K-Mart circular this past Sunday too!

My only concern was that maybe this wasn't their better grade/quality. HF had advertised an EZ-Up too for real cheap, and a lot of these ads say "shade" whereas they're not saying rain protection. Know what I mean?

At the boatyard this weekend, some guys set up a Quick Shade while doing some work, and I could see the crappy quality of it. Not only did the covering look real thin, but the assembly looked really light and weak. Like a small wind would blow it over in a second if it wasn't staked down.

Bled, are you gonn a take a look at it today? Let me know ASAP what you think, because I need one too. If it's half-way decent, at this price, I'll go for it.

But the K-Marts around here aren't known for having the greatest inventory, so I would have to hurry.

And Beers--do you have the REAL link for that product? The one you gave goes to their home page.

I saw that ad Sunday too. Like AF said, I was wondering about available sides. I'll run into K-mart tommorrow and report what I find out.

If you go ahead and enter a ZIP code, it will take you to the "real" page.

45 minutes more to go in the office, and I'm gonna swing by K-Mart on the way home to take a look.

If I buy it, my wife can't hurt me too bad since she isn't feeling well today.

Her time of the month is medical, while my time of the month is when the bills arrive.

Billy...too late. I just bought it.

Mainly because the name was EZ-Up, because the color was tan (which kind of matches my TD), and because it was only 99 bucks.

It's called the Escort. 52 pounds, and when it comes to canopies, weight DOES matter.

Did you get an EZ-Up at Target, or another brand?

Regardless, my wife doesn't know that I bought it yet, so if I don't post by noon tomorrow, please send the cops to my house and pay attention to the national news.

I might FINALLY be famous when she kills me.

Ira, let me know what you think of it. I went to K-Mart tonight but they were sold out. I did get a rain check and found out that the K-Mart near my house still has one. K-Mart policy is they will only hold an item until closing the same day. I went at 9:15 PM so they would only hold it for 45 minutes across town. They open at 8:00 AM so I guess I'll be standing at the door waiting for them to open.

Ira, Any chance you could set it up and write a review before 8:00 AM pacific time. Maybe if you do it early your wife will still not have the energy to kill you.

Sorry I can't set it up in time for a test, Bled--had to go to work.

When I went to K-Mart, the first thing that caught my eye was that they had the Coleman collapsible jug, the one with the exact fitting for my Coleman shower/faucet. (They had one left.) This had been bugging me, because I didn't want to have to order it online and pay shipping for a stupid little eight dollar jug.

Then when I went to look at the canopies , I didn't see it--but the woman went into the back and shlepped it out. Before that, she kept saying "The tan one?" Whereas in the circular, it looks grey. So that was a bonus for me, that it was tan.

Anyway, I had the canopy in the bed of the truck when I got home, and I walked into the house with just the jug and some smoked ribs from our favorite local place--to "soften" the blow about the canopy. Well, she rolled her eyes at the sight of the jug, so now I was TERRIFIED to bring the canopy into the house.

I left it in the truck, took her to work (she works overnights), and she didn't see it in the bed. So now I get into my best Ralph Kramden mode, trying to think of a way to hide it, to lie about it, whatever it takes so I don't get hit.

No go--the thing is too big. So it's sitting in the corner, she didn't spot it when she walked in this mornng, and I'm ready to kiss her goodbye to leave for work, and I figure:

I'd better tell her, because she IS gonna see it. So I put on my most pitiful face and say. "Look babe, I bought the canopy last night because it was on sale."

And miracle of miracles, just one innocuous, sarcastic comment and that was it! (Yep--it certainly is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.)

Anyway, we'll see how she holds up, but this is all I wanted to spend on a canopy anyway. The big size is fantastic, and because it's tan, I might eventually be able to rig my own side walls using CANVAS. We'll see--just don't know if I need any side walls in the first.

Don't know when I'll be able to set it up, but I think for the first time, I should ask someone to help me. SOME guys may be able to put these up themselves, but at my height, I doubt it.

It says "New" on the box, so either they haven't listed it yet, or it was made specially for K-Mart.

And I can't believe K-Mart is still in business. The one by me NEVER has a lot of people in it, and the WalMart blows it away in size and everything else.

Hey Guys,

We've got a Cabela's store in the neighborhood, and they carry a 10x20. We picked one up for the Scout Troop.....nice steel poles, top tarp, and sides. The first time we had it up, a wind came through (nasty weekend), picked it up and laid it upside down over our cargo trailer. Bent half the poles and ripped the top.

Lesson.....stake 'em down!!!
