Thanks Fritz....I'm over there too. (teardropkevin)
Speaking of sale! Everything is on sale and the base kit is $110 off until Tuesday.
Thanks, I'm sure that was me. I worked for the bike shop sponsoring the event that year.FinsUp wrote:I am pretty sure I camped next to you at Wilson lake last year for the Mountain bike race. I was in the 100 series land cruiser. You have a beautiful trailer and I told my wife about it when I got home. Great job!
More function over fashion. My flip flops live on the fenders while I sleep. The diamond plate keeps them from sliding off.capnTelescope wrote:Good move on the fenders, Friz. Me and others I've met have all had sandblasted fenders to deal with. I think your diamond plate is the best solution.

And still looking great. Where is this photo taken? I feel like I know that place.
These were a bust. In testing, only 2 of the 5 worked as intended. The other 3 cycled on and off continuously. Also no apparent waterproofing. I returned them.friz wrote:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RDHP3KP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_BGN7BZ2Z296P62WY40YZ
I am going to try some of these around the camper for convenience and security.

The trailer is fine as long as you keep the weight down. The only must do is packing the bearings with quality grease and properly adjusting the axle nut as you would for any tapered bearing. I jack up either side on occasion and check the play in the hub by moving the wheel laterally and checking for end play. You want just a little to allow for expansion from the heat from friction. I also touch the hubs when I stop for gas to check for heat. These hubs have always run cool.whiteryanc wrote:Love this project, so well done! I know you've commented on some aluminum trailer threads and it looks like this trailer is holding up just fine!
Do you do any regular maintenance/bolt checks and do you have to do much adjustment ever? I have a similar powered vehicle (Subaru Crosstrek) and have been looking at building an ultralight trailer but have no welding/fab skills so the bolt together aluminum trailers are particularly interesting.
Thanks for all the great documentation and images!
