Your mention of tax made me go back and gather up all of the receipts for expenses to date.
I had intentionally been shoving receipts into dark holes in the garage, and never the same place twice, because I didn't want to know how much the trailer was costing.
But if I may need them to prove that I'm legal, it's probably a good idea to keep tabs.
I collected them, but didn't add up the total.
To date, the only thing (purchased specifically or tangentially for the trailer build) that I have not paid tax on was the insulation. ...Which, ironically, is the only thing I have been able to picked up locally, so far.
The guy told me over the phone that I'd have to pay tax, but only gave me a 20 minute window for pickup and the shop was absolute chaos when I arrived. He looked at the invoice, voiced his lack of desire to write it up properly, looked at me, looked at the invoice, looked at the cash in my hand, looked at the clock, handed the invoice to the foreman next to me, and said, "Put this on Charlie's job. They'll pick up the tax for this one..."
Okay...
