I get why it would be a good thing to have a charger cooking away while hooked up to shore power. A smart charger would cost about $60 and you could select FLA or AGM...

I'm on the same path. I have no Microwave/AC, so I have no requirement for 110v power. If indeed I would require, then extension cord would be my fall-back. I also do not 'Glamp' nor stay at a place more that 3-4 days before traveling on. I can easily re-charge with my B to B charger while traveling (if my solar didn't keep up).
I can only figure it if you Glamp. I only get it if you stay for longer terms at a place and require high amperage.
