12V DC MABRU Marine Air Conditioner

Postby DWT77 » Tue Dec 31, 2019 8:41 pm

A co-worker sent this to me today. I haven't researched it. I did a forum search for Mabru but nothing came up.

The price is expensive.

I did find a youtube video for their Mabru Power Systems 4,200BTU Marine Self Contained unit w/ Reverse-Cycle Heat and Digital Control

Here are some of the other options

I'm just throwing this out there for discussion purposes. If a 12v A/C unit was a reasonable price is it feasible for off grid option?

In this video they say

MPS 4,200 BTU Mini Heat Pump Air Conditioner. Available in 115v 60hz and 230v 50/60hz. Also able to run on 12/24VDC with our optional 1000W inverter/charger. Testing demonstrates that this unit will run on a Honda EU1000 with ECO-THROTTLE on without any problems! The digital control comes included in the package. This unit is reverse cycle which means that it can both heat and cool.

27.8 amps. Ouch.

Once again I'm happy to live in the northern Rockies.

5000 btuh A/C from Home Depot at the end of the season - $100
2000 watt Predator Generator - $500.
Living in Colorado where's it's cool in the Mountains - Priceless!

^^^ This

Do not bother fantasizing about any significant cooling, heating or cooking off stored DC energy nor solar PV panels, in the context of this forum.

No matter how theoretically "possible", never going to be practical with current state of technology.

Like heating from a couple candles, or cooling from a cooler full of ice and a fan, yeah, sure. . .

. . .

You just summarized the results of a whole lot of research I undertook when I first started learning about DC battery systems ... the term "fantasizing" made me chuckle .... so true.

Yes just run the numbers, people say "oh don't be so negative",

but the realities of physics don't care about your mental attitude.
