Squaring NT 5x8 frame

Just starting my build and I'm having issues already! I'm having trouble getting my northern tool 5x8 steel trailer frame. The closest I can get is 1/4" out when I pull corner to corner.

Any advice would be welcome!

Use large washers as spacers to adjust where it is bolted together

I got it to measure out corner to corner and ran a string line down the rails. It showed a 1/4" bow on 1 side and an 1/8" on the other. It's bolted and I'm going to have to deal with it going forward! I wonder if paying for a custom welded trailer would have been worth a few hundred more dollars?!

A quarter inch probably won’t make that much difference as wood seldom comes straight anyway … Probably very few here that work to such exacting tolerances …

I think it may be one of those issues that as long as you don't point it out to others, it won't be noticed.

What you need to be concerned about is the axle being square to the tongue. It's an easy check with three plumb bobs.
