Ideas for a table to extend the rear "deck"

I am looking for a better idea than I have been able to come up with to add a "table" to extend the edge of the rear deck when the hatch is open. I have about 8-inches there now, but some kind of a removable or fold up arrangement would be good. I would like to get around 15-18 inches of 'table" If you have worked out something (other than a free-standing table) I would certainly appreciate a photo or description. Thank you. (Its for my 8-ft Cubby)

Hi John,

This isn't quite what you asked for, but it doesn't have to be removed or folded to close the hatch, and the leg attaches to the body, so it doesn't move up and down when someone goes in or out like it would with a leg down to the ground...

The surface is around 18" x 36".

Rob, thanks for the photo. How is the edge of your table attached to the side of the camper? And, how is the support leg held against the lower edge?

we did the table on our tear similar to what Rob has done...we used a table bracket from tjtrailers.com...leg is conduit that is attached to the table with a wingnutted bolt that screws into an insert on the bottom of the table and is pinned to the trailer with a hairpin clip thru a bracket made from 3/4 al channel...
table support bracket linky ...we cut this into 3 10"pieces and used one on each side and one on the counter top giving us 3 mounting positions for the two tables...we aslo ripped 1/2" off of the long leg of the extrusion so it didn't protrude as far...

John...a number of people have used the idea in this photo...more stuff to store, the support leg, but it will raise up to counter height or down for table height, turns 90 degrees and can install on either side...I didn't want a bracket on the side of the woody, so used square tube sockets welded to the frame and made up my own wing nuts...table size 15 x 22 Doug
