Leaf Sprung axle above or below springs

Postby bfree01 » Wed Aug 30, 2006 12:28 am

Mine will be above the springs but i am using 15" tires and normall will be pulling with a jeep cherokee or a full size 4x4 i think this will put my tounge where i need it.
Just curious as to how others had done it, and their opinion.
I may not know what I'm doing , but I'm slow!

several of us have moved our 1,800 h/f axles from blow to above springs. We have to notch the bracket for enough axle clearance. I did mine to lower the trailer and make it look better...

The TSC trailer comes with the axle above the springs.

Standard fitment on leaf sprung suspension should be with the axle above the springs. Having the axle fitted below is usually only done for a height gain.

I have the HF 1800. My axle is below the springs (12" wheels). I tow with a Jeep Wrangler (6 inch lift) or a Chevy Avalanche. When I tow with the Avalanche the tongue height is great. I use a drop hitch with the Jeep because of the lift and the 35 inch tires.
