need LED bullet lights

Postby Duane King » Thu Sep 28, 2006 10:49 am

I've been searching through old posts trying to find out who knows where to get those reproduction bullet shaped tail lights from a 59 Caddy. I recall somebody mentioning that they are being made brighter with LED's in them. That is what I need to find. The LED ones. . .

I am working now on making a plug of the tailfins that will go on my galley hatch. This plug will then be taken to a local fibreglass shop where it will be turned into a mold. From this mold I will have two gelcoated tailfins made. I want to have the bullet lights mounted on the rear edge of the tailfin.

If anybody knows where to find those LED lights, you can save me a lot of computer time by steering me in the right direction.

Thanks,

Duane

Oh, by the way, these tailfins will have a flange on them so that I can put a sealer under the flange and then screw down through the flange and the galley hatch into the hatch bows themselves. This will be good and strong and will help hold the hatch curve. The flange will be just like mounting a roof vent. But I wonder, would it be wiser to have the aluminum skin of the trailer overlap this flange so that water rolls by the fin. (the same way sheet metal is laced into tar paper on a house roof) I would be grateful for opinions on this matter. But don't forget. . .this is a post about LED bullet lights. :worship:

WOW you do nice work. If you don't mind I think I'll steal your dufflebag shelf idea. Looks great.

Duane, Try BIG DOG HOT RODS starting on page 216. I have their 1950 Pontiac LED arrays and I'm extremely happy with them with 41 LED's. Danny
Try Shiny Hiney too.

Thanks everybody. You just saved me tons of looking around. While you guys were telling me how to find the bullet lights, I was outside cutting a hole in my galley top to mount a propane stovetop. I found a nice unit and just received it yesterday. I will post pictures as soon as I can find the camera. Thanks again

look for a Kenworth (or other big rig store) in your area. I went into one looking for rubber T handle clamps, and found they have a ton of coll LED lights, not to mention othrs.

Duane...you need to send an e-mail message to the guy at Taillight King...he's not there all day long, just a part time thing for him...and the Caddie lights have a 3" dia. base, 6" OAL, model # C8004LED are available in both incandescant and leds, I've got a set of GM taillights on my last tear with the LED's in them...and you get fantastic light from them...I was up talking to Grant a couple of weeks ago and he had some aftermarket clearance lights used on truck/tractors...the caddie lights fit right into the housing...Doug
