camp every time I have been there it has been religious. Also first place I ever camped with my TD.

Lake Whitney, Texas at East Lofers Bend Park. Camp site # 1 has a great view of the lake.

My favorite is Hickory Creek in Lewisville, Texas. It's clean, the Showers and Toilets are great and clean.

There is a great view of the lake from practically all of the campsites (I think the primative sites have some of the best locations because they are located in cove-type areas of the lake. A toilet and cold-water face basin are provided.) The dirt hiking trail is nice, and they have a paved one that is good for the physically challenged.

Anywhere on the Northern Cal coast, used to abalone dive at Point Arena and stay at the KOA there. Diamond Lake in Oregon, there is a forest service campground right on the lake with showers($1 donation recommended) and flush toilets.

Loon Lake ... about 20min inland from Reedsport OR. Its a BLM campground in a forested area among huge bolders, at the end of a small lake. Tight sites keeps the larger RV's out and the beautiful rest rooms with a large free shower room makes it teardrop friendly. They have a nice fishing pier, a roped off swimming area for the kids and a sandy beach for the old folkes (me) to sit in the sun.Its in the bottom of a valley so the lake is calm most the time. perfect for canoes or small human powered craft. You can also use larger powered craft if you must.

There are so many beautiful places Idaho, Wyoming, Canada and Alaska, but this is my favorite place to camp that is within a one day drive.

It's in the Kaibab National Forest just outside the north rim of the Grand Canyon. The nice thing is that it is remote camping so you don't have people all over.

This is a solo trip I took. (If you don't count my dog Abbie)

Beautiful meadows.




A fire swept through this area this past summer so I don't know what it's like now.

My favorate is Ft Stevens near Warrenton and Astoria Oregon. Its located at the mouth of the columbia river. Lots of old historical army depot and bunkers to explore. Clean restrooms and showers. Lots of hiking and bike trails. A must see.
