My td has an official theme....

Postby b.bodemer » Wed Sep 06, 2006 7:18 am

During the summer I bought a banner that I thought would reflect a cool td theme.

Today it's official as my cowgirl, Ocoee, officially gives her two paws up.

Life is good, hey?

Let me guess where Ocoee's name came from--hmm couldn't be the river haven for ww kayakers in TN, could it? Looks like your avatar might be Grumpies or somewhere on that shallow, head-bashin river that has beaten me up more than once.

Randy,
You got it right.................

My favorite river it is and very fitting for my dog. I get to the Ocoee every summer, believe it or not our club has a trip ther over the July 4th holiday and the river isn't any more crowded.

And then I met up with Mark and Andrea Jones for the Carolina Canoe Club's Week of Rivers for the remainder of that week.

Someone else posted about boating the Ocoee. Maybe we can have a td boaters outing!!!!!
Barb

ps...I missed the middle line at Broken Nose after showing a first timer down. Now that's some shallow stuff to roll in. I took pictures every day of the bruises and cuts for fun.

You are far braver than I and have the bruise to prove it!

Owieeeeeeee. ditto to Joanne's. Had enough for the year. I do however, admire you WW kayakers. If I saved the money I would even show up at a do just to watch and administer hot drink and tylenol.

Yikes.

The above post was me after taking a break at Bill's house and working almost non stop on the td this week. Just like me he stays logged in so I just typed a response not thinking.

So it's my buddy Bill who is the Ohio Guy.

What's cool is we boat together and always look out for each other. Kinda cool for sure.

So Vitamin I is a joke for us old timers who need Advil for a weekend of paddling. And Miriam if you ever come to watch we'll ask you to be our "Shuttle Bunny". That's a common river term for the person who brings back all the drivers who are leaving their car at the end of the river, from the take out area back to the put in where we start. I'm not sure what you call a guy who shuttles us but the term is a positive one and when everyone piles out of the shuttle drivers car you hear a "Thank You" from each and every person who gets out. That's cool too.

I took a raft trip down the occoee river with our scout troup (they think thay are a bunch of prima donna's instead of a troop) and my ass hit most of the rocks in that sucker..but with my weight, the momentum carried us through the rough spots. :D

Canoe trip on a late May weekend down the South Llano, 1996.

Safety tip: fall on the side with the water over the rocks, not the side with the water away from the rocks.

People thought I'd been in a car wreck by the Tuesday after that Saturday.
By halfway thru the week I thought they might've been right.

I want to take a canoe back down the Llano. But I want to go sometime when it has running water in it.

Gee, My house in Blue Ridge is just 30 min. from the Ocoee and I've never been rafting. My boys have though -- many times. My speed was more like the Nantahala (sp?)
