That welt you show really looks like nice stuff and it also seems like I have seen it somewhere while I have been surfing around. Maybe I'll be able to sort out my bookmarks and find what i'm looking for.

To describe further; My upholsterer is going to make the awning for me and when I suggested that I would supply him with the right sized rope to hem into the edge, he requested that try to find some of the pre-made welt, but offered no idea where to find it.

JC if all else fails we can send you some.. Do you have the correct profile for attatching it? Or similar?

How much would you need all in all?

You might try a larger fabric shop or Hobby Lobby/Michaels type store.

I really appreciate the offer Finn, but I don't think that will be necessary.

I'll find some, somewhere or maybe just bite the bullet and get the stuff at Rochford. I just don't like to buy from places that rape you on shipping.

Thanks,
J.C.

Les,

thank you much! I have both types coming from marine textiles. And I've bookmarked the heck out of that site.

Finn,

Thanks again for your offer to assist and thanks to the others for your suggestions.

Will do.

Probably what I'll do is add it on to the end of page nine of my Silverdome rebuild and just post a link to it in this thread.

I'm not too optomistic about how quickly he'll get it done though.

Part neded - follow up

Postby J.C. » Thu Jul 12, 2007 3:02 pm

I ordered both types of beaded welt from Marine textiles and other than a snag running my card, they were good to deal with and very prompt. I ordered both styles of welt and would be very happy using either one, but have opted to use the "Keder" welt which is the style that Finn showed in his original post to this subject. Only difference that I see is that mine is black.

Thanks all for the suggestions and links.

Boy am I a slacker!

Someone asked and I said that I would post a link to the awning when it was completed. There's only a couple pics at the end of this page but you can see that it came out very well. We are incredibly happy with the awning. You can click on one of the pics and get a little larger view. Then use your back button to return to the page.

Sorry to dredge this up from so far back, but I try to keep my word.
