frustrated with propane

Postby Duane King » Tue Sep 04, 2007 3:09 pm

As you probably know, I am having propane issues. I will probably abandon my horizontal tank in favor of a 20lb vertical tank like the kind used on backyard barbeques. Does anyone know where I can get a mounting bracket for a single tank? I can find dual tank mounting stuff, but not single tank. Any ideas?

Duane, if you don't fabricate one yourself, you could try the folks at CampInn...they have a nice single tank unit that is all stainless and fits either the 20# tanks or the fat 11# ones...there are bound to be other sources as well............

My thought exactly. A tank which is too small won't work well at high flow rates (to much chilling of the propane), but other than that, the size and orientation of the tank doesn't matter. Unless the horizontal tank has a defect (internal blockage?), changing to a different style won't fix anything.

Having said that, a 20-lb "barbecue" tank sitting beside the trailer is a great test propane source - if the problems go away, you know the problem is with the original tank. If not... you don't need a bracket for a 20-lb tank!

Why use propane at all ...???? We've gone solar for cooking , heating water, and electricity ... Nice to be rid of such a dangerous power source...still carry a small hibachi and charcoal for the "hot dogs and burgers "...
