Whats the size and weight of your TearDrop

Postby madprinter » Wed Jan 02, 2008 8:26 pm

Hi, I'm looking at Designs for a build. I'd love to see what other members have come up with and the " Size And Weight" of their Teardrops. Thanks, William

Mine's 5' X 9', and I calculate the weight to be 1250 lbs.

I've built 3 on a modified Trailer for 2 plans..."Comet" from Kuffel Creek.

#1. 4x10 1200#
#2 4'6" x 10 1020#
#3 4'6" x 10'3" 960#

What I learned between them all...don't get carried away with the frame, and think light on the cabinetry. You don't need 3/4" material for cabinetry. I don't carry water on board either...

#4 4'6" x 10'7" my own design, weight TBD...but I'll bet it's the heaviest one yet... Doug

Ours is 76" x120" x60 high and I haven't weighed it. I bought almost 900 pounds of wood and other stuff though. I think I'll get that done this weekend.

5'x10' comes in around #1050-75. A few things could have been lightened up. I imagine the next one will be around #900-75.

I'll take the smaller trailer ( 48" wide x 42" high x ~111" long - sloped front ) and get some pictures and get the weight of it this weekend. :worship:

Pat

PS
I'm guessing ~400# dry 8)
And that's with two 4" x 4" x 96" Pine runner on the frame under the box.
I'll see if I'm right! ;)

I have a benroy 4X9 it weighs in under 700 lbs loaded. I use stackable plastic bins in the galley and dont have cabinets in the cabin. I may just put a shelf in the cabin to put duffel bags on. It pulls great with small car and big hills. Photos in album. Enjoy, randy :D
