There is no such thing as stupid errors just errors associated with varying degrees of "how much it cost to fix it"

This week has been kinda nuts. I did get to start working on the doors.

I'm framing the door with 1x to give some meat for the hinges, lock and window frame. Hi-tech gravity clamps from Valspar were very helpful.

Image

Just about ready to trim. The glue is still drying on the right door.

Image

Trimmed up the edges and window opening. This router gadget is HANDY.

The cabin doors are coming along. It'll be nice to finish these since they have so many parts currently spread all over. The windows are 15x18 crank out types from Grant. I have a set of door hardware from him as well.

Note the ginormous size compared to the camping data surfer.

Image

A little bit of insulation was possible in the doors, so we went for it.

Image

The hi-tech gravity clamps were at it again.

Image

I've been really looking hard at fenders. I've seen many the looked cool, especially the swoopy late '30s reproductions. I keep coming back to a simple elegant style. I snagged these at Northern Tool for $27 each. The discs are from Hubcap Mike's.

Nice EEE PC you got there... are you running Linux or Windows?

Mike...

P.S. Do you have a cell modem for camping?

I wonder where I learned about those things. LOL

It's set up with linux, the basic Xandros package. I've been playing with it for a whole week now. MY wife surprised me for my birthday last week.

As far as the modem, I'm not sure just what I'll do with that. I may just lean toward having it handy to hit wireless hotspots while traveling to and fro.

The gravity clamps came off this morning, so we were able to get a clear look at the doors. They weigh about 15 lbs each like this. With the window, door hardware, hinges, etc. they are 24 lbs each.

Image

Inner side of the window. More trim to think about. How many edges are on this thing anyway. Oy vey.

Image

Hinge shot. I think I'll do some kind of spacer to help them stand off a bit in order to get better squish (more even) of the weather strip as the door closes.

Holy cow, the amount of stuff to actually build on this thing is dwindling.

It's time to get the cabin/galley bulkhead done. The inner wall skin is set in place here.

Image

I'm taking a different route for 120v power. I found this neat rack mount "power strip" at a computer hardware store. It has 6 outlets on each side. More Power! Argh argh argh.

Image

Image

Bulkhead framing is laid out. The Working Stiff is home schooled, so I gave him a pop quiz in math. He had to add, subtract, multiply and divide in fractions to get all the dimensions for the framing correct. He scored 100%.

Image

The bulkhead is laid up. Gravity clamps in action once again. The 4th pint of Titebond has just been killed off. Need to buy stock in that company.
