Looking forward to Camping this weekend!

Hey Gang!

We're really excited, looking forward to the big camp trip to the holler this weekend!

They've got us at site 8p, because we are tent camping (drat!) in what I hope will be our last tent trip before I finish getting ours built! I will be bringing paper pad and camera and need lots of pictures and tutoring about doing the hatch, wiring, other essential TD build info.

My kids want to go fishing! I'm bringing my Coleman camp stove, what sort of side dish should we make for Saturday?

I was hoping to take the Blue Ridge Parkway, to the extent that parts of it are open on the road to Glendale Springs!

Looking forward to meeting y'all!

Dear John and Wally,

That's great! The kids, especially my oldest, will be thrilled! We're really looking forward to it. Wish I had the camper done so we could christen it proper, but maybe next year. I really appreciate you all bringing some extra gear for us.

As for side dishes, Fix a side dish that goes with whatever you will be fixin' at the Communial Grill or bring a dessert of some kind. Just remember to BRING A SOMETHING TO PUT ON THE GRILL FOR YOUR CREW

It looks like the T-storms will be of the afternoon type....typical spring weather for up here. Low 70's for the highs and mid 50's for the lows.

See ya in a few dayz,

Questions

Postby Alfred » Wed May 13, 2009 11:46 pm

Is there a Walmart or grocery store anywhere near the campground to buy stuff to bring for Saturday night? All I have is an ice cooler and it is a challenge to keep stuff fresh.

Worst case scenario and the weather turns soggy (remember, we're in a tent), are there any motel 6's or other accommodations in Glendale Springs?

THanks, AL.

Cool! I should know, no matter how far up in them mountains you go, there's always a Walmart 20 minutes away! (Grin)!

So, let it be known that I will be making at least one Walmart run over the weekend if anyone needs anything picked up.

Regrets - Friday

Postby Alfred » Fri May 15, 2009 8:57 am

Hey Gang,

There's a fairly convincing prediction of thunderstorms this afternoon and all night tonight in the Glendale Springs area. Although, I hope these turn out to be inaccurate for all of those traveling up there today.

In the name of prudence (I don't want to be tent-camping a family of 5 in a thunderstorm), I am going to hold-off today, recheck the weather report tomorrow (Saturday). May still try to head up there tomorrow, if the weather prediction is better.

By the way, Craggy Rock reopens noon today on the Blue Ridge Parkway, you won't have to detour around Craggy Rock after all.

Going to drown my sorrows this afternoon working on the build in the garage...

If not overnight, come for the day tomorrow. Fishing lessons are on for sure.

Will definitely come up tomorrow. Wife and I decided if it is wet tomorrow, we'll sleep overnight in the van versus tent for Saturday night.
