Raccoon

Postby Carter & Susan » Thu May 14, 2009 11:38 am

Rain or shine we're having to cancel this weekend. Susan decided it was time to have a gallbladder attack and she's having it removed tomorrow morning.

We'll still be at Chain O'Lakes and look forward to seeing everyone then. Have a great Raccoon campout and keep her in your prayers.

Site #263 is now open.

Scott
Come on down, Jan and I pulled in around 6. I think there is about 10 or so of us already. A little wet in some places, but not bad. Had a nice fire and a bath and now we are going to bed. 6 hour drive went fine but I am getting to old to stat up and watch the fire, ha. See you some time tomorrow. Bring more sun with you!

The results are in!!!! I hope everyone made it home "OK".

The Raccoon lake gathering was a great success. We had 30 teardroppers in attendance. 3 could not make it for health (medical emergencies) or personal reasons, but those who made it were blessed buy a mix of fun friendship and lots of rain.

Hopefully everything will be ready for the Chain of Lake gathering in late July.

Friday afternoon and evening was a washout but no one drowned in the torrents of rain.

Tons of food at the pitch-in dinner. I noticed that, not only more people bring food, but the size of the (cast iron) dutch ovens gets a little bigger each year.

Oh BTW, I lost my (conventional) lid lifter so if any one has and extra one, I can get it at the next gathering.

I always appreciate the campers who are not afraid to get a little wet along with the sunshine. I'm just glad we're not "tent camping" :?

These are very dedicated campers and when the weather was good, the fun was obvious.

Thanks to all of the brave teardroppers and campers for making this event a great start to the season. :applause:

Pictures will be posted soon. :)

Made it home, just got home from picking up the dog.

:applause: Lots of fun, Lots of rain as Kurt said but when the sun cam out Sat it was beautiful weather. Got to go boating Sat morning, nothing like boating in the rain but the boys laughed harder than I think I've heard them laugh as we zoomed around the lake.

Food oh man we just keep outdoing our self's, don't forget to send me your recipes or post them to our Hoosier cookbook thread so we can remember who made what and put together a book from the different gatherings.
Such as who made the roman noodle salad. That was very good.

Pictures to follow soon.

P.S. Kurt who got the banner

Thanks Dan for the EZ up frame

Thanks Bob for the D.O. table

Uh Oh! Good question.

I'll call the park Monday to see (if nobody tells us that they got it.)

I drove right past it and didn't even think about it.

I'll let you know. Shoot !!

Arrived safely home at 3:30 Sunday. Really enjoyed all the fun of meeting new friends. Thanks Kurt, it was you who invited me to this outing way back in Nov. when I had just got the trailer done and knew no one or how I would use it. But I just knew somehow fun would follow.
What can I say , but let everyone know I am so happy to have something new to experience. I am now a Hoosier that lives a little east of line.
See you around the camnpfire

Now you sound like Bob. :BE

I left so I could get back and watch the Redwings / Blackhawks game around 3:30, about an hour and a half late but was able to see the 3d period. Jeff (#2) was still there helping Bob & Vickie wrap up and all I can say is "What a great trip". I loved the storms especially the lightning that I think was searching for my flag pole. Great food and great times. As always, I can't wait for the next one.

Thanks for all the kind words regarding my shoebox on wheels except words like????? (you know who you are!)

The Deepest spot in Lake Superior, the largest of the Great Lakes is 1,333 feet or about 222 fathoms. This profound depth could easily contain the entire 1,250' Empire State Building, even with a 50-foot-tall King Kong perched atop.

Thankyou for a good time. Jan and I got home around 9 pm. We goofed around on the way home and looked at some of the covered bridges. Traffic was nuts most of the way but not to bad.
The Indiana group was a very friendly and VERY nice group of people. Thank you again for the warm welcome!
And thanks for getting the tear washed for me too.
Hope to see you all at Chain of Lakes.
