steps
1. trim to width, and hem edge
1.5. hide professors ruler
2. trim to desired length, hem (I think I went too short at 5')

3. sew patch of scrap over where tent poles go
4.sew button holes in for tent pole ends
Image
alt for 3 & 4 install tarp savor grommets

5. hem top (part that goes in track) with cord sewn in middle with cord sticking out both ends by 3 or 4 inches
6. sew loop in ends of cord

Well it is time to start figuring out how in the world to mount this new axle.
Image
Put the axle in front of current axle.
Image
Yes I centered it, and it is wider than the old axle
Image
Now for the puzzle, the outside of the brackets for axle is 53", and the outside of the frame rails are 40". Can I press the spindles out, with the rubber bits and move the the brackets? Ideas welcome. I leave you with a pic of the original mounting brackets on the pop up frame.

The rubber got in there by being frozen in liquid nitrogen, so you won't be able to cool the axle enough to get the rubber and spindles out.

You could cut the middle 13" out of the axle tube and then carefully weld and reinforce the centre joint, taking care not to 'cook' the rubber with the welding heat.

You should have no problems cuttinng out the middle of the axle tube, as the rubber only goes in about 18". I had to do this when i narrowed mine

Ok I not any help on the axle but I got a question on the awnings class.
Where did you get the track to slide the awning into?

With my new wheels, the wider is the only way I can go, and not put in wheel wells.
Image
Tyre size 450/18's. The wheels are still in Kansas.

I am thinking (I thought of this at 3am last night) if I build sort of a box, that bolts to the frame on the inside, and the fender at the top (hey the fender will let my fat self stand on it without moving). Thoughts, concerns.

thanks del

I got that used from my uncle. When I priced it last winter (from Tom's rv near Tampa) it was $3 a foot, but here is the kicker I would have to buy the entire 20' stick. Call around, it is an awning track thingamabob.
