Missouri's Van Meter State Park

We took a road trip one afternoon and had a quick visit. I took some photos to share. I was impressed with the park. We hiked around the lakeview and overlook trails. There are more trails that we did not visit.

This was on July 5th (a Sunday) and there were only two sites occupied. Maps and directions are available at the link above.

Edited to add:
Sadly this park does not allow campsite reservations. It is off the beaten path and I have been told it is never crowded.
