Mattress and mattress toppers

Postby shortgmanp » Fri Nov 06, 2009 8:02 pm

Any idea where to get a regular 4 - 6 inch mattress. Everything is memory foam. I do not want a regular mattress. I want to be able to remove it through the door if needed. I was wondering of those 4 inch mattress toppers would be firm enough, or to soft. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks Greg

Just get a futon mattress. They roll up nicely. IKEA has some nice ones to choose from, or there are many online sellers.

Memory Foam from Wally World in the tear. Just put some memory foam on our bed in the house. 3/4" plywood, 2" regular foam topper then 4" memory foam topper. I LIKE it!

W/o the 2" regular foam under the memory foam, my hip bone could "feel" the plywood under the memory foam. The other 2" of foam made a BIG difference.

5" foam mattress topper from JC Penny's works nicely also.

I got an en cheapo mattress at IKEA for my trailer: Jaren. It's okay. There was an amazing mattress topper that was discontinued that would have fit the bill.

We got a futon mattress from IKEA at a very inexpensive price. We also got a 2 inch memory foam topper from Overstock.com for about $35. It's the perfect combination.

Do you have a sofa sleeper in your home? The mattresses in them are uncomfortable on their own, but if you put a foam topper on one, it would be livable. I've done this when camping, and it works out nicely, for one night anyway.

My suggestion would be to try your setup, whatever it is, on the floor of your home somewhere for several nights before committing to a weekend or vacation of it in the hills.

FYI, sleeper mattresses are typically 48" wide.
