roadmaven,
Ill bet that it wont stay high of 37°F & 38°F the closer it gets. Its just wishful thinking. No way can they predict 10 days with any accuracy,... it just gets our hopes up for the whooper storm of the year......
If by some miracle it does get that warm,... all the people on the fence will have NO excuse,............. They have to come........... Haha

Do we have an idea which area we'll be in? I was checking out the campground map over the weekend and noticed it's not a big place. Looks like it had a little area off to the east of the main campground that had a dozen or so sites that are within view of the Anderson airport. Thinking about taking off the 15th & showing up Friday.

Being a life long Hoosier there is always a 10 day stretch of sub zero weather that mother nature has to get out of her system. We are about to the end of that phenomina. If the most recent 34 / 27 comes to pass it will be the mildest Shivaree we have had yet.

Fighting a whopper of a cold but I will be well and ready. As to a Friday Sat thing count me out. In a teardrop you are outside until bed time and 2 days of that exposure is too much for me. Otherwise you are confined to guarters to avoid the cold and though my barn is bigger than the teardrop I don't want that much inside time.

Hope we can get Scuba to bring the "recreation center" a 10 x 20 tent we used as a meeting hall and mess tent. At 7 degrees and a 35 MPH wind last year the 45 degrees and calm was a real luxuary.

We had to lash it to the ladder rack on my old work truck to keep it from flying away in the wind.

If you look at that map the spots along the top are wooded to help prtect from the wind and right next to the bathroom so not to far to walk in the cold top take care of business.

Just my thoughts, but as it's no reservations it's generally the first person there picks the location and then people pile around them

The single funniest thing about a shivaree is the fact you need to bring an extra cooler to keep things warm. Yep if you don't want it to freeze chuck it into your "insulated dry box.

Now ain't that a hoot

Scott makes a good point, last year if it had not been for a heavy tree line we would have been blown into the next county. Check prevailing wind direction and try and get a dense tree line between you and that wind. It makes a big difference.

That long walk to the potty is only 1/2 of that equation once there you will probably have an extra layer or two to dig thru to get down to business so proximity can be a real blessing.

On yet another note I have a pickup bed full of 2x2 pine about 8" long and a few large logs. We will need some more big logs but I have plenty of kindling.

What is this freeze chucking of which you speak? The only way I can freeze chuck it is if I forget to turn on the furnace.

If not Bob, it's been documented that you can get 8 people around the table in a T@B! Check it out at the 9:20 mark in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbDq5S_9NKk

Roadmaven, have you met Bob, Scott, Dan, yet. They are pretty big (corn fed) boys from Indiana. You might get six in there but eight will be a real "squeeze".
Sorry I won't be able to make it; I'm about the same size.

Have fun, I hope it warms up before the gathering. It's really brutal out there these days.
