General Discussion about almost anything Teardrop or camping related

Attached awnings /rooms etc....

Postby doug hodder » Wed Nov 23, 2005 11:55 pm

I had an original 49 Kit with a canvas tent that attached around the galley area, in 1980..forgot how it all worked and looked, only attached it once, it was a bunch of rags....does anyone out there have some photos of an original tent, or awning feature that was originally sold with the trailer....I have an ez-up...and a Kelty Carport, but I'm wanting to sew up my own attachment that will physically attach to the tear...looking for photos for ideas, I've got the material...in the pattern making stage......thanks in advance....Doug

Doug,

Here's the only photo I have of the galley tent that came with my trailer, it's only part of the canvas though. The rest of it snapped on to what you see in the photo and extended back atleast another 6 feet. It used wooden poles to hold it up.

One of these days I hope to duplicate it and get it back on the trailer.

Man, I've got pictures of just about everything. I've even got pictures of the double deck Scad-A-Bout that Len was asking about a while back. Just can't find them.

Have a good day.

Thanks Kevin....I'm thinking about something shorter...but I do like the striped Sunbrella look...really vintage....I've got rip stop nylon....I'll probably start with a couple of short wings like on yours and build off them....Doug

Doug, did you see John Green's set up at the ITG? This isn't the best pic but the awning for the most part is free standing and also has a dressing room attachment.

Gage, it's hard to tell from the picture, but is John Greene's tarp flat or peaked? This has given me an idea for a canopy over my TTT, making my own poles from aluminum or PVC, using a flat 9'x12' tarp. I could use a standard tarp, but like the decorative ones better. I checked online and can't find any flat tarps with the decorative edging. I see lots of canopies with poles (garage type) and the foldout type (square) but am not sure that the roof frames on either would clear my TTT roof and I want nothing touching the top of my TTT except part of the tarp itself.

We got some poles that are 2 piece (inside and outside) that are adjustable in height... camping item made for holding up tarps.

Think about the hatch attachment

Postby Guy » Thu Nov 24, 2005 10:29 am

Dear Doug,

If you attach to the hatch, what happens when you close the hatch because of those big bears in the Redwoods. They will walk all over your top of your enclosure.
Are you going to use Carbon fiber or Aluminum poles?
Regards,

Guy
