1964 Aloha Rebuild

Canned Hams of all types and sizes...and Bread Boxes to go with that ham......

I'm a "screw it" kinda guy as opposed to a "nail it" sorta guy... I'm always amazed at the staples and brads that are used in the original construction.

But then...I ain't no engineer....

Its coming along slowly but surely. It should be going out for paint sometime mid next week. I'll sure be happy to get the windows back in place and sealed up so I can leave it uncovered again. Once the trim and windows in, I'll start using it again and finish the interior by piece work. This rebuild has really made me reconsider trying to reuse original tin again. The aluminum skin while expensive would have been much easier to cut to size than to to try to rebuild to fit warped, bent, stretched,, dented metal. :? Still though, with all the many visual imperfections. I still like it.

I'm now also considering a decent sized window in the upper part of the door, or maybe a small (window) door within the door that will open to kind of mimic a split top/bottom door, that also serves in place of a screen door.

I'm debating adding some color or graphics instead of the original stark white. That too can come later.

Wow, that is a lot of work. But it is going to be worth. Great looking.

what do you mean you can not put old lights on the trailer, i searched high and low for a set of old taillights for my restoration. ended up with 1957 ford fairlane tail lights  of course the trailer is a 1957

Those look like the same lights on my 1958 Ranchero! I may have to consider the same lights on what ever trailer I tow with the Ranchero.

Touché Mike.... I like that solution a lot. I did look at a lot of diff styles of lights online and most of them were too modern or required to be counter sunk, which I could have done that, but just didn't want to commit. When I found the lenses that were original to the trailer for not much cash I snapped them up.

I seriously considered a couple of tombstone lamps like the older harleys but I just didn't have the creativity to come up with an attractive mounting solution at the time.

Hindsight says I should just have mounted them closer to the bottom and upside down so the curvature would keep them pointing straight back.

I went and snapped some pics of the inside as is today....

I still have a bit to do inside to finish it the way I want. I will have to do some small repairs to a couple of the cabinets then paint them all semi gloss white... I'll put down engineered hardwood on the floor, And I just need to make the sliding top for the bed in the back so it goes from couch to bed with just a tug. I'd also like to get some appliance epoxy paint and refinish the stove and fridge to something other than their current ugly brown.
