Interesting Observation... Trailer jacks

Postby Micro469 » Wed Feb 08, 2006 11:41 pm

Looking at the trailer jacks On Princess Auto's website, I noticed they ranged in carrying weight from 500 to 7000 lbs. What size would you get for a tear ? does it go by tongue weight or trailer weight?

Another question... Can you pull a tear with a class 1 hitch , or do you have to have at least a class 2? I have a Mercury Mystique (Keep your degrading remarks to yourself.. I love the car and haven't had any problems with it...) 8) but I can only get a class 1 hitch for it, even tho it's a six banger

Comments anyone? :)

Thanks Madjack, I notice most people have a heavy duty trailer hitch, and was wondering if a Class 1 was doable. Still want to Know about the jack... tongue weight or trailer weight?

Both of my tears use the 500# tongue jack...swingaway...haven't had any problems with them...I needed a short jack that was compact...they worked great for me...Doug

Hi Micro,

Check the info i put in this post. 2000 lbs is overkill but it is a compact unit for less than $20. Princess Auto still had stock in Ottawa on Teusday.
