Rob,

Do you by chance a photo of AC from the inside? Didn't see it in your album.

Thanks

Earl,

Here are some quick pics.

This shows the unit in the bottom cabinet.
The exterior door is closed.
When opened, the a/c slides out/back, about 6".

Thanks Rob. That is a great install. Doesn't take valuable space from the cabin, looks good from both inside and out.

Thanks for sharing.

You're welcome!

I should have mentioned, I installed aluminum angle on the sides and top of the unit so it won't "fall out".
It also gave me a place to install some open cell foam weatherstrip to seal the opening when its running.

Rob, how is that Haier AC unit? I'm thinking of getting one. Either that or the Goldstar, as both have the upward directed air flow. The Haier states that it is "Ultra Quiet". Is that true?

Another possibility would be to make the door open from the top to create a shade and protection for the protruding AC unit. The AC unit also holds the door open. Mine is one of those Home Depot elcheapo units. It does a great job.

Inside the when the AC is not extended it sits on a couple of wooden rails. Here you see the unit extended.

Dale,

It is far more quiet than most of the small units I've had, but not "ultra quiet".
Still, the best I could find for the money.

Georges setup with the door hinged on top is a better design.
I didn't have room on this one

Rob, that sounds good enough for me. Haier it is. If it's fairly quiet, and blows the air upward, that's what I need.

I love these AC ideas. I saw George's a few weeks ago when I began perusing the hall of fame for ideas. I am definitely setting mine up like that. I have the $80 Home Depot AC (something I already have and don't have to buy, I like that) already waiting for its flap.
