A bad fupping day!

Anything electric, AC or DC

A bad fupping day!

Postby Ira » Sun Feb 19, 2006 4:30 pm

I have had it.

I know we can't curse here. But with creative use of the English language, I believe I can express my disgust and anger at the world after today's time at the boatyard. (See if you can guess the words I WANT to say, by the words I'm allowed to WRITE!!!)

Fudge it. Fudge it ALL! I have fudging HAD it!!! Enough of this shirt already!!! Take this shirt and shove it up your mass!!!

I arrive for work on The Crab, and everything tests fine for circuit 2, my left side daisy chain. I install the switch for the porch lamp, cap and tape all the wires beautifully to actually fit into this small wall cavity space, I again connect the TD to shore power, turn on the panel, hit the main on, hit circuit 2 on, and...

Nothing. Nothing trips on the panel, but nothing turns on. No glorious lights inside OR outside.

What the duck is going on here?

So lo and behold, I decide to turn circuit one on, the outlet for the AC, and Mohammed blessed me with nothing once AGAIN!

What the truck does my 2nd line have to do with my FIRST???

I am now questioning my sanity, my manhood, I'm looking for Candid Camera's hidden camera, but this makes NO sense at all. Circuit one has NOTHING to do with circuit two.

I SWEAR!!!

WHY ISN'T CIRCUIT ONE WORKING EITHER WHEN IT WORKED JUST AN HOUR AGO!?

I also won't bore you about what the funny looking LED lights on my panel did during all of this. The main would be on, I'd put circuit one on, and the main light would go OUT, but the circuit one light would stay ON. (Both should be on. ALL should be on! )

But still, no juice, anywhere.

So, I rip out all of my beautiful taping and capping for the interior and porch lights, pull it out of its little nest, I even remove those lines to the PANEL. So it's time to test circuit one again, the outlet for the AC.

Ta dah--nothing again.

I remove the outlet box per a previous problem. Maybe a screw through a wire. And ta-dah:

Still no power.

Control yourself, Ira. Your're not THIS fupping stupid.

So I remove my main cord to the trailer, plug my drill in to shore power, and Ta-Dah--

STILL NO POWER!

To make a long story short (too late), my power supply at this boatyard is total crap . I was plugged in at first, no problem, but some masshole moved MY cord to another receptacle, which was all fupped up. Yeah, the LED lights lit up, but nothing else worked.

SO HERE ARE MY OPTIONS AND I CAN'T TAKE THIS SHIRT ANY MORE!!!

I can buy a 75-foot extension cord and plug in elsewhere in the yard, but I don't trust the power ANYWHERE there. And aside from having to shlep and connect this long cord, the manager doesn't have a clue about resetting a breaker or replacing a fuse.

My other option is to buy a 12V marine battery to use with my inverter, to KNOW I have a reliable source of power, and use THAT for now when checking my work. (And having the battery for the future.) My inverter has a breaker on it.

I just came from Wal-Mart, and although I'm sure it's a crappy one, they have a 12V deep cycle marine battery for just 40 bucks.

Heck, a long extension cord is going to cost half that anyway, so should I just get this damn battery and say FUPP YOU to the boatyard's power supply!?

I WANT TO LUCKING KILL MYSELF ALREADY!!!!

And oh:

As an added bonus, TODAY was the day that three elderly gentlemen visited me while I was trying to figure this all out, with a million questions about what I was building.

SO I TOLD THEM TO MOP RED! CAN'T YOU SEE I'M BUSY HERE!?

(I really need a hug today. Or a snowjob from my wife.)

Here we go again!

Ira,

Your writing is hilarious. I feel for you though. Get me a plane ticket, I’ll come down and help you out with your wiring. But ya know, Steve Cox is closer. He could probably just drive over. Same thing with Cracker39, and several of the others that are already in your state.

Anyways, your message, your choice of words was good for a chuckle. But I hope you get a handle on your electrical woes…. In the meantime, talk to your wife! ;)

Well Ira I'm no electrician and believe me I've asked my share of questions, but I think I've had the other side of your luck this week.
I've been wiring the 110 side of my converter this week, little by little and I must say things have gone really well. I remember the first circut that I wired up ( after a few trips to the hardware store). I flipped the switched and low and behold POWER. I had a light pluged in. Now I've done some wiring before with sucess but every time I wire something and it works it still amazes me (Every time). So it was really cold in the garage and here I am just sitting staring at a light like it is a God or something.
Really weard. Thanks for sharing your stories. Had a good laugh.
Hope you find success.

Ira,

Some of this stuff can make you want to scream :drofl:
And it usually helps if you do...

When it's all said and done though, you'll be a good bit smarter.
Learning is like that, if it were easy, we'd all be experts.

Hope tomorrow is a better day!

Oh, Ira.
I am so sorry you had such an awful day.

But thank you for writing about it, because reading that made me laugh so hard I scared my housemates.

I needed that laughter more than even I knew.

Thank you for the gift.
