Pickin' a fender color...

Postby mikeschn » Wed Feb 22, 2006 4:54 pm

How do you guys pick a fender color? I've seen a lot of hemming and hawing on the forum about fender colors. I don't understand why it's so tough...

I remember Dave trying to pick the best color. Steve too I think...

And then I was presented with my own fenders to paint. I really wanted to go with Hunter Green, like Len did on his Slumber Coach. But every one I talked to said, make em brown...

In the end I said the heck wid em all, and I painted em black to match the car. I think that's what Frank did too. Good plan Frank!!!

Anyways, after all the hemmin and hawwing, here are my fenders...

Mike...

P.S. BTW, I spent the afternoon outside... it was so warm... 42*F. That's 5*C for you Canuks that have anti-freeze running thru your veins!
The quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten, so build your teardrop with the best materials...

I painted mine to blend in with my main tow. But who know's, when I start towing all the time with the Wagon, maybe I'll paint the teardrop fenders Orange. :?

Have a good day.

I used Henry Ford's original advertising motto-" you can have any colour so long as it's black". Seemed to fit with the era thingy :D

We did black so it would go with any of our tow vehicles. Only problem is that it shows the dirt too easily

Were going with a kandy brandywine metallic on our kit fenders.....
since it will be the color of the 37 Chevrolet ..

Should be a nice combination...Here is the color - for an example..

Color coded fenders do make a difference. Mostly I see black ones , but they do come in all colors. They all look good to me. (well maybe not Gage's orange). Gage, you're tear is too nice the way it is to change colors.

p.s. Heikki, the color of the '37 would look great on any tear. I like it.

We went with red and also painted the side light bases to match (the plastic part, not the lens!) We also painted the tongue red. It all matches the inside and the curtains, etc. Then again, I reused the ugly ones that came with the utility trailer. When I get the fancy fiberglass curvy ones, then I'll paint the whole shebang black.

Mike , I like the contrast ! To blend the fender in with the color of the Tear sometimes can make the fender " dissapear_ , know what I mean. I feel the fender is a part that you want to stand out ,since the style of fender you have is a great feature. Well done! :applause: :applause:

Well let's see, I had about a quart of Dark Metalflake grey left from a gallon so guess what color my fenders and tongue are. 8) 8) 8)

I might even paint my boat Orange & White to match the Wagon.
I know, that line is off Topic, but oh well.
