I think these selections are great. I have never visited two of these parks and Mounds was snow covered and cold ( 2011 shivaree) so we didn't wander far.

However I do now know a good locksmith in the area if you lock your keys in the tow vehicle

Thanks Bob, I picked these for the reasons you mentioned plus it balances out the travel time for a lot of our members.

Thanks for the input.

Summer gathering 2012

Postby clarkbar46 » Wed Oct 26, 2011 8:41 pm

Hey, Dave and I REALLY love the idea of the summer gathering at Tippecanoe SP. We might be able to make the long drive of 2 miles to the park.

Yea!

Let us know if you need any more information about the park.

Bob, I was at a Good will Store in Westfield today and thought about you and your love for the stores.
I picked up a "Coleman" battery powered light (with a dimmer) for $3.99.

I even tried to buy a "Goodwill Stores" shirt but they didn't sell them to the general public.

It would have been perfect for you but I coudln't talk them into it. :x

Ah ! yet another convert to the frugal life.

Was in the local GW today on my lunch hour.

The shirt would have been a hoot. Thanks for the thought anyway.

P.S. I know barb has a potato peeler from there if anyone needs to borrow it.

After looking at the Clifty Falls campground a little more, I think that the sites to the north of our originally mapped sites are in a better spot.

Take a look and see what you think. We still have plenty of time before we can reserve sites for May.

I was watching the "food channel" (again) and they were doing a "low country boil".

The concept is to have a simmered pot of ingredients that everyone (almost) would like.

Here is a typical recipe - http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/daves-low- ... etail.aspx :guzzle:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_AxHq0sBEg

I (personally) will eat just about anything, but I really like the idea of the "boil" for the gatherings.

This would be a simple (donate a part) meal that we could all enjoy. Part of the fun would be "tending the pot" during the day and then, of course , enjoying the food.

I need comments about this so (if approved) is something we could try at the spring gathering.

After all, the gatherings are actually a "food fest" surrounded by a bunch of trailers, so let me know what you think.

another option , that Carter and Susan are familiar with, is "the Chili Dump". They can elaborate on that if needed.

Kurt, I think it would be fun to try something like that. So the pot would need to feed like 60 people wouldn't it?
