Thanks. I never thought to use a full can. :DOH2: Your idea should save me a couple of nicked fingers the next time I make one of these.

Yes, the full can gives the rigidity to press fit them together, and not pushing two cans cut edge to cut edge together makes for less hassle.

That's a great device and so is the potholder.

That is my go to stove when backpacking! The thing I like about them is there is nothing that can go wrong with it it lights and works all the time!

If you heat the partial before you quickly slide the well chilled full can into it, would that make the assembly easier?

Yes it probably would, however the walls of a drinks can are so thin that you will easily push one can into the other provided you drill the pressure vent hole first.

Maybe some WD40 lube would also help?

Thanks for showing this. I'm definitely going to give this a try.

Can you please explain the priming and starting again? Prime with the coin, then remove the coin? Ouch.

Good point, I skipped through the whole priming thing at speed.

I have updated part two of the blog post with a bit more priming detail and I have replaced the priming video.

Here is a pic, as I know you guys are addicted to pictures. ;)

Okay. I've never seen one of these penny stoves, so bear with the questions.

How do you store it if it still has fuel in it?
How do you extinguish it? Blow like a candle?

Looked very interesting and useful.

Extinguish it by placing an inverted mug on it. If any remaining fuel it won't be much.

Hi Bonnie, When I have finished using the stove, I wait until it is completely cool, then I tip the remaining fuel back into the fuel bottle. The stove drains readily through it's burner holes and any residue left in the stove evaporates.

A good blow usually put's it out, or snuffing as hoytedow suggests.
