Any experience with this builder?

Here's where you can talk to the manufacturers about custom built trailers, etc...

I could do without the galley, but no rear access either?

Price is kinda steep for what you get. I think you'd be better off with a Lil' Guy.

Hey at 500 pounds has 13" tires A frame type hitch queen bed area sounds like a reasonable price to me.

To come in at 500 pounds and looking that polished and knowing the price of materials is not bad. Little guy will set you back 6k for anything that has a queen bed in it and higher if you add accessories.

It's easy to get light weights like that when there are minimal cabinets, no galley, and no rear hatch.

I agree with linuxmanxxx. I have priced the sort of materials he uses and looking at close to $2K by the time I get it all shipped. I would probably enjoy a build, but don't have too much time. Went and looked at Little Guys (a long drive for that). They are really well built and finished. But way more expensive. And much heavier. And the LG "queen" bed is too short for me at 6'4". Even the bare bones...which are not nearly as much head room are quite a bit more. And while I'm sure a galley is very convienent, to me they look like a leak waiting for a time to happen.

I have talked to him a couple of times and it sounds like we may drive up and give them a look. Plus a fall trip to Pa. isn't a bad thing either. Will be prepared to buy if it is as good quality as appears on the website. If I do I will report back.

OK...we bought it. It is light, well made in my opinion, and plenty of room. Is built with the ultralight frame style. Super easy to tow. We camped in it the first night already. I think we will like it. Going to add a front storage box and probably battery and converter. Maybe some sort of fan to the vent. It is pre wired for fan.

Well...after almost 2 years we love it. Haven't been around here much but have been camping some.

Here it is ready to begin our last trip to Colorado. Towed almost 3400 miles with the Forester and averaged 19.8 MPG at interstate speeds. I added the tongue box. Made a new bumper to get rid of the cheesy tail lights.

The MiniMate I saw in person seemed like a decent camper. If it was just me it would be a nice option, but it isn't just me. It is us, two adults and three large dogs plus too much gear. So it is too small for our purposes. It certainly has a lot of advantages where weight and size are concerned and seemed fairly easy to deploy.

Glad you like yours. Hope it will serve you well for many years.

We don't have the Mini-Mate. We have his 5 x 8 Teardrop. That link is old...

Anyone else have any experience with these? I've been wanting a tear for a while, but can't see myself ever finishing a build. I'd need someone around to assist and push me to get it done, and I don't see that happening. I agree with what someone else said about a galley just being a leak waiting to happen, so I don't mind that these don't have one. I'm mostly looking for somewhere to sleep and this seems like it'd fit the bill. I have a dog now and like to take him along on trips, having a camper would be easier than constantly looking (and sometimes paying extra) for pet friendly hotels.

I'm only about a 2 hour drive from Myerstown, so I may go have a look in a couple weeks when I have time.
Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?

Now is

looks like they are focused on motorcycle trailers at this point. Probably a good niche.
