revamping the weekender

Postby dovaka » Tue Jun 05, 2007 1:00 pm

the wife and i have fallen in love with the weekender design and have decided to build one of them before we try making a benroy so i started tweaking around with the design a bit and so far this is what i have ended up with let me know what you think

p.s. i have been using google sketchup for a total of about an hour or so at this point so my skills in it are a little rough and this is the first thing i ever made in it

Hey looks good to me. Just make sure your door isn't that close to the top.

yea i havent figured out how to round the edge of the box tool yet and i drew a base using the original measurements and i ended up shortening the flat top back 3" to make it 48" and that made the front angle drop down a few degrees making the door even worse

Should be an easy enough fix. Just drop the door down and move it to the rear a couple of inches. The other thing you can do is make the top panel longer Just need a little bit everywhere to give it more room.

So are the fold out counters going to scissor together when closed (i.e. overlap) or are the tops (surface) hinged to fold down?

I like it!

I've been playing with the original design too...

Any negatives with making the front and rear angles the same???

hmm that would lighten it up a bit using the balloon haha

not including the tongue box it is 65x114 end to end but the frame is only 65x110 including the tongue box it is 132 long

the counters are going to fold down and then the doors will shut i havent decided if im going to use 2 of them or just have one on one side
