There is a really good use for these though, dehumidifier. Run of few of them in parallel (with regulated current), big heat sink for the heat they generate, smaller on the inlet side so they get nice and cold. Small amount of air flow over them to circulate the air.
I knew the basics of these before this thread started but this thread had me digging up more.
Since our main need will be dehumidifying this might work for us. Be alot lighter and smaller than a big AC unit and should be able to keep the power consumption well below that of a AC unit.
TEC units are actually really common for small dehumidifiers so I'll see what I come up with.
