I sure hope that you have checked to make sure your hatch swings away from your wall and is not hooked under it. The further you go w/o verifying this critical issue, the more work that will have "passed under the bridge".
Simple as pinning, or taping, a string to your side wall at the hinge point and seeing if the radius of the lower most edge of your hatch swings by the profile turning at the hinge.
It will really suck if you build your hatch and can't open it.
