Hi everyone,
I'm in the early stages of building my first teardrop trailer using Tony Latham's book as a guide. It's a 5x8 design I came up with; I'm happy to hear what others have to say about it.
Sleeping area for 2 adults, reading & interior lights. Kitchen galley: IceCo freezer/cooler; sink (water pump, 7 gal fresh/gray water); coleman camping stove.
I designed the trailer as well; 2" square tubing (1/8 walls), Timbren axle-less spindles/wheels (14"); I expect the deck height to be at 17".
I'm debating on solar; our camping trips are typically at developed campsites where there is power, but as the kids get older we may want to do more dispersed camping. Then again, by then I may want to build another one altogether...
I started my build two weeks ago; I built a stand for it and made the floor using two 1/4 sheets of sanded plywood with 1x6 framing in between, and insulation in the cavities. Next up is to seal the underside - epoxy, Henry's, or "The Mix" (?) which appears to be multiple coats of a changing paint thinner & polyurethane blend.
I'll post photos once I can shrink them.
