But it looks good to me, and I wanted a big #9 waffle iron...
Got this Wagner Sidney #9 patented Feb. 1910 today for $12..

A fine looking iron. Since most of them are sold on the East Coast you probably made up for that $1.53 on shipping.

I tried all sorts of techniques, bidding early, bidding late, bidding high, bidding low. I did my own bidding and had a friend use e-bay's bidding assistant. Nothing seems to have made any particular sense. I lost them all until the last one and I just tossed that one in with two hours to go and left the house. Turns out there were only two bids. Lucky me.
The only clue I have could be completely off base but the one I got was the rare one ending mid-day on Sunday when everyone was out watching Nascar.
Just pay attention to shipping charges, they can be higher than the cost of the iron. If you see one you really want use Dean's technique and toss big money at it within the last 30 seconds.
I use FireFox and was able to open two brower pages on the same item. I used one to refresh the page every few seconds within the last minute. On the other one I put my max bid on the first bid entry and entered so the next "confirm bid" page was ready to go at 20-30 sec.
This worked very well as a method but I got out bid every time.
If you cannot handle rejection, don't bid on anything.
